Strap on your sneakers, grab the kids and the dog and spend a beautiful Saturday strolling through Shollenberger Park.
Or, polish your high-tech running shoes, load up on carbs and get ready to run your legs off -- also at Shollenberger.
Whatever your style, the third annual Petaluma Footrace is the place to be this weekend. The no-pressure "fun run" benefits the Old Adobe Union School District’s Enrich & Educate Foundation.
The event, which begins at 10 a.m. Saturday, consists of a three-mile walk and fun run involving local schools as well as a five-mile competitive run.
The course begins at the Petaluma marina and runs in and around Alaman Marsh and Shollenberger Park.
Participants will receive T-shirts and goodie bags, and individual race winners will be given awards.
Pre-registration can be done online at www.petalumafootrace.com and must be completed by March 22.
Pre-registration costs are $18 for people 19 years old and over; $15 for participants under 19 and Empire Runners Club members; and $14 for family members of families with three or more participants.
Registration also can be done from 8:45 to 9:50 a.m. on the day of the race. Fees will be $20 for people 19 years old and over; $15 for participants under 19 and Empire Runners Club members; and $15 for family members of families with three or more participants.
