An 18-year-old Petaluma man was arrested after allegedly using a box cutter in a fight with a 16-year-old, police said Tuesday.
William Stambaugh was booked into Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, Petaluma Police Sgt. Tara Salizzoni said.
The 16-year-old, whose name was withheld by police, was cited on suspicion of battery and released to his parents after being treated for minor injuries at Petaluma Valley Hospital, Salizzoni said.
Stambaugh was sitting outside his house on Sestri Lane late Monday when the 16-year-old and five friends walked by, Salizzoni said.
Stambaugh and the 16-year-old had fought before over a broken window, Salizzoni said.
They exchanged words and began fighting again, Salizzoni said.
Stambaugh pulled the knife and cut the 16-year-old several times, Salizzoni said.
