Una nueva estación de televisión en español es posible en Sonoma County.

In English: The Santa Rosa station KFTY-TV, Channel 50, might become a Spanish language channel in the coming months.

If so, it will follow the path of other media outlets across the county and state that have re-launched to cater to the state's fastest-

growing population.

A Florida-based investment firm with a track record of buying and converting television stations to a Spanish-language format has agreed to purchase Channel 50, along with another one near Seattle, for $26.6 million, according to documents filed with the Federal Communications Commission.

The deal is pending approval from the FCC -- a process that could take up to a year.

The firm is managed and largely owned by Barbara Laurence, a Florida-based investor involved in converting several stations to a Spanish-language format.
