Horizon's daily Portland service to start Sunday

Spurred by the success of its service to Los Angeles and Seattle, Horizon Air will launch a daily flight from Santa Rosa to Portland starting Sunday.

“The bookings have been solid,” said Dan Russo, marketing director for Horizon.

The Seattle-based carrier also is adding a third nonstop flight from Santa Rosa to Los Angeles that begins Sunday.

Horizon’s flights have averaged more than 80 percent full since the service to LA and Seattle began last March.

“We’re really happy with how our service in Sonoma County has turned out,” Russo said.

Horizon expects the daily Portland flight will attract a mix of business and leisure travelers, similar to its Seattle service, Russo said.

The flight from Santa Rosa will leave at 4:40 p.m. and arrive in Portland at 6:30 p.m.. The daily flight from Portland will leave at 2:20 p.m. and arrive in Santa Rosa at 4:10 p.m.

Limited tickets are available at an introductory fare of $99 each way. Taxes and fees are extra.
