Comcast will begin switching its Santa Rosa customers to a new state-of-the-art cable network on Wednesday.
The cable company is replacing its antiquated system that has prevented Santa Rosa subscribers from receiving standard channels available elsewhere in the county.
The new fiber-optic network will also let digital subscribers receive additional features such as video-on-demand, digital phone service and extra high-definition channels.
The transition, which starts Wednesday and continues through next year, is automatic for customers and will not cost any additional money. Comcast said it plans to switch 1,100 customers to the new network by the end of December.
