Departing in a rolling start from Railroad Square in Santa Rosa, the Tour of California riders will face two notable climbs on today’s course — notably the trek across the Trinity Grade just outside of Santa Rosa that likely will be made even more treacherous than usual by a slick roadway.

Two-thirds of the way to Sacramento the riders will climb again over the Oakville Grade.

The finish is expected shortly after 2 p.m., although that could be delayed by the weather.

Fabian Cancellara of Switzerland, winner of Sunday’s prologue in Stanford, retained the yellow leader’s jersey after Monday’s Stage 1 run from Sausalito to Santa Rosa.
