A handgun found Tuesday near Jenner may be the weapon used in the slaying of Vutha Au, a witness in a gang-related criminal case, Sonoma County sheriff's deputies said.

"This is the type of weapon we were looking for," Sheriff's Sgt. Tim Duke said.

The 9mm Glock 19 semiautomatic handgun was found Tuesday morning by officers searching the route near the crime scene at Blind Beach, south of Jenner.

The handgun will be tested to confirm whether it is the weapon used in the March 2 slaying, Duke said.

Au, 24, may have been killed to prevent him from testifying in an upcoming kidnapping trial, authorities said. Au's brother is the victim in the kidnapping case.

Four men facing charges in Vutha Au's murder, all reputed members of the Asian Boyz gang, are accused of kidnapping Au and driving him to a parking lot above the beach, where he was shot nine times.

The suspects are Quentin Glenn Russell, 24; David Prak, 19; Sarith Prak, 21; and Preston Phongsuvane Khaoone, 22, all of Santa Rosa.

Investigators also arrested Tyrone Rosenblad Tau of Suisun City on suspicion of being part of a conspiracy to kill Au.

All five men are due back in court later this week.

A handgun was found last week alongside Highway 116, near the spot where the four murder suspects were arrested. Deputies later said it wasn't the gun that killed Au.
