On Saturday, the price of a gallon of Chevron gasoline went from $3.99 to $4.03 at Store 24 on Highway 29.
“I imagine everyone will be following us. We didn’t want to do it. We have no choice,” said the manager of the store, who declined to give her name.
In nearby Lower Lake, the price of a gallon of regular was still holding at $3.99 at the Shell station.
But manager Linda Claas said it’s likely only a matter of time before her station is forced to follow suit.
“It probably will later this week,” she said of the rise to $4 at her station.
