The Nelson Family of Companies, a Sonoma-based group of staffing and workforce management businesses, said Thursday it has named Jonathan Parker as its new chief executive officer.

Parker will succeed the company’s founder and CEO, Gary D. Nelson, who will continue to serve as chairman of Nelson’s board of directors.

Parker has been a member of Nelson’s board for five years. He is vice chairman of Boston Private Finance Holdings, a private banking and investment management firm. He also worked as a management consultant.

Nelson has about 370 employees, including 86 in Sonoma County. The group reported $396 million in sales last year and placed 21,000 workers in jobs.

Its businesses include Nelson and Associates, Nelson Technology, Nelson Staffing, NelsonJobs, WorkforceLogic and HRhome.
