There will be no July 4 fireworks shows in inland Mendocino County.

But residents can still get their pyrotechnic fixes at displays being held in Fort Bragg, Point Arena and several locations in adjacent Lake County.

Ukiah’s annual fireworks display at the Redwood Empire Fairgrounds — the only one in inland Mendocino County — has been postponed because the site is being used as the base for some 1,500 firefighters fighting more than 100 blazes raging across the county.

The show is expected to be held when the fires subside, said Redwood Empire Fairgrounds manager Jennifer Seward.

“We are happily housing fire and life safety organizations,” she said.

Those wishing to set off their own fireworks should think again, county fire officials warn.

Fire prone Mendocino County has had a long-time ban on personal fireworks and officials have warned there will be zero tolerance for anyone violating the ban.

A ban on personal fireworks also is in place in Lake County.

Lakeport had allowed sales of fireworks but they ended Tuesday with a vote of the City Council.

Fireworks displays are being held after dark throughout the weekend in Mendocino and Lake counties.

They begin with a display at the Robinson Rancheria near Nice Thursday night.

On Friday, July 4, fireworks will be set off over Clearlake at Library Park in Lakeport.

On Saturday, fireworks displays will be held at Todd’s Point in Fort Bragg; Point Arena; Austin Park in Clearlake, Konocti Harbor Resort and Konocti Vista Casino.
