Hall finishes 9th in Olympic Trials 1,500-meters finals

Santa Rosa’s Sara Hall finished ninth in the 1,500-meter finals at the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials on Sunday in Eugene, Ore., falling short in her bid to qualify for the Summer Olympics.
Hall, 25, who was seeded 12th with a personal-best time of 4 minutes, 8.99 seconds prior to the Trials, finished in 4:16.79.
The top three qualified for the Olympics in a 12-person race in which the pace was slow.
Shannon Rowbury pulled away in the final lap and won in 4:05.17. Rowbury, 24, has a run a personal-best 4:01.61, showing potential to become the third woman to run under four minutes, joining Mary Slaney and Suzy Favor Hamilton.
Erin Donohue was second in 4:08.20 and Christin Wurth finished third in 4:08.48.
High school star Jordan Hasay, 16, finished 10th in 4:17.36.
Hasay, who will be a senior at Mission College Prep in San Luis Obispo in the fall, set a national high school record of 4:14.50 in the semifinals.
