This week's entertainment equation goes like this: Short attention span + incomplete sentences = Top 5 List.

1. Has it really been a year? Paul Stokeld ("Hello, mate!") and the gang down at The Toad in the Hole are celebrating a year in the business of raising a pint and staging all genres of music in Railroad Square. It all starts tonight with Brian Kenney Fresno and The Lemon Lime Lights. Saturday is the official anniversary party with The Buckshot Boys. And British Steel goes "Spinal Tap" for classic rock at 4:20 p.m. Sunday. 116 Fifth St., Santa Rosa. 544-8623.

2. The Soul of John Black adds a little R&B, soul and a dash of hip-hop to the Sonoma County Blues Festival, kicking off at 2 p.m. Saturday with Angela Strehli, Johnny Rawls and more. It all goes down in the Sonoma County Fair's Redwood Theater. Fair admission gets you in. 1350 Bennett Valley Road, Santa Rosa. 545-4200.

3. Hot off a new Vitamin Water campaign (co-starring her new bud 50-Cent), Carrie Underwood is still riding the "American Idol" buzz, dropping by Konocti Harbor at 7 p.m. Saturday. $99-$158. 8727 Soda Bay Road, Kelseyville. (800) 660-5253.

4. Celebrating "the terroir of cinema," The Wine Country Film Festival takes over the Kenwood Depot with Spanish cinema Saturday night and a Planet Party environmental film hoedown Sunday night. Get all the details at 935-3456, www.wcff.us. 314 Warm Springs Road, Kenwood.

5. If you're looking for barnyard intimate: Mark McLay and the Dustdevils squeeze into Studio E (that charming lil' apple orchard barn outside Sebastopol) for a CD release party ("Love and Barbwire") at 8 p.m. Saturday. $20. Call 542-7143 for tix and address.

Looking ahead: Next week, the best shows are midweek. Ozomatli (all over the map: Latin, funk, soul, hip-hop) blow the batter off corndogs at the SoCo Fair Tuesday night. And Lyle Lovett (see our Q&A in Sunday's A&E) brings his Large Band to the Wells Fargo Center Wednesday night. $45-$85. 546-3600.
