Propane, welding tanks fuel fire
Last Modified: Saturday, July 26, 2008 at 6:23 a.m.
A "dramatic" fire igniting propane and welding tanks on a south Santa Rosa property burned a recreational vehicle and an old Model T just before 9 p.m. Friday.
"It sounded pretty dramatic, and it looked pretty dramatic. A propane tank exploded, and a couple welding tanks blew," Santa Rosa Battalion Chief Jack Piccinini said.
The fire on Ludwig Avenue near Stony Point Road was likely ignited by an errant spark produced while the home's resident was fixing up the old car using welding and grinding equipment.
No injuries were reported in the blaze, which drew firefighters from the Santa Rosa and Rincon Valley departments.
