Adobe Road in south Petaluma has reopened Thursday morning after a closure of more than two hours, authorities said.
A sparking power line shut down the road east of Frates Road around 10:30 a.m., forcing motorists to take alternate routes around the south end of the city, the CHP said.
The road, a major thoroughfare, was reopened at 12:44 p.m., the CHP said.
Authorities said an old-fashioned equipment failure was responsible for the power line dropping across the road, where it sparked and burned some of the asphalt on Adobe Road, CHP Officer Kimberly Lemons said.
