A 17-year-old from Rohnert Park was named California's Junior Miss Saturday at a competition in Rohnert Park.

Lauren Xie, a student at Montgomery High School in Santa Rosa, will receive a $10,000 scholarship and represent the state at the national competition.

Contestants were judged in categories including talent, physical fitness, academics and self-expression.

The first alternate wins $5,000, second alternate receives $2,500 and third and fourth alternates receive $1,000 each.

The California Junior Miss program has held its state competition in Rohnert Park for 12 years.

In addition to Xie, Sonoma County also was represented by Diana Jeon, 16, of Rohnert Park, a student at Rancho Cotate High School.
