Rohnert Park teen wins state Junior Miss title

<p>A 17-year-old from Rohnert Park was named California's Junior Miss Saturday at a competition in Rohnert Park.</p><p>Lauren Xie, a student at Montgomery High School in Santa Rosa, will receive a $10,000 scholarship and represent the state at the national competition.</p><p>Contestants were judged in categories including talent, physical fitness, academics and self-expression.</p><p>The first alternate wins $5,000, second alternate receives $2,500 and third and fourth alternates receive $1,000 each.</p><p>The California Junior Miss program has held its state competition in Rohnert Park for 12 years.</p><p>In addition to Xie, Sonoma County also was represented by Diana Jeon, 16, of Rohnert Park, a student at Rancho Cotate High School.</p>
