Sonoma State University police hope witnesses will come forward to help them with an investigation into stabbings at a party on campus.

“They talked to people at the event, whoever was willing to talk with them. They got whatever information they could,” said Susan Kashack, SSU’s associated vice president for communications and marketing.

The two victims are refusing to talk to officers, giving the investigators nothing to follow.

“There’s nothing for them to further investigate until more information comes forward,” Kashack said.

“We’re hoping others who have some information about the situation will contact us,” she said.

Whether the incident involved gang members wasn’t known, Kashack said.

The violence came at a 19-year-old girl’s birthday party at the University Commons. The hall was rented Friday night by family for the occasion. Students weren’t involved, Kashack said.

Two people were injured, one superficially. The other was stabbed in the stomach, treated and released.

Three men are suspected in taking part in the violence. Only general descriptions were available, including that they were black men, medium height and build and 19 or 20 years old. One man had dreadlocks and wore a white T-shirt, police reported.

She asked anyone with information to contact officers at 664-2143 or the anonymous tip line of 664-2910.
