A 25-year-old Novato woman died early Sunday after she apparently let her SUV drift off Highway 101 near San Antonio Road.
According to the CHP, Elisabeth Evelyn Allread, who turned 25 on Aug. 11, was killed when her 1995 Land Rover Discovery, headed south on 101, drifted off to the left.
The vehicle left the main road and traveled into the median, the CHP said.
Allread then apparently steered to the right and lost control of the vehicle. The Land Rover again left the road and overturned down a dirt and grass embankment off the west side of the highway, the CHP said.
Allread wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, according to the CHP. She was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene of the 1:40 a.m. crash.
The CHP was investigating what caused Allread to drift off the road.
