Sonoma Academy has announced the appointment of five new coaches for its Coyotes athletic teams.

They include:

- Steve Flores (head women’s volleyball coach) - he led San Francisco University High to the North Coast Section semifinals last fall.

- Taylor “Rosie” Manton (assistant volleyball coach) - she is a former Sonoma State volleyball standout.

- Todd Stevens (head cross country coach) - he had had an outstanding collegiate running career at Chico State.

- Jessica Dawney (assistant cross country coach) - she is from Pleasanton and recently competed in cross country and track and field for three years at SSU.

- Lee Sandwina (assistant boys soccer coach) - he is a graduate of Maria Carrillo where he played soccer for four years and then played two years at San Jose State before transferring to the University of Virginia where he played soccer and graduated last spring with an English degree.

“With the move to our new, permanent campus, we will have more space and more opportunity to expand existing athletic programs and start new ones as well,” said Chris Ziemer, Sonoma Academy’s athletic director. “We expect to be adding even more new coaching positions in the near future.”

The Coyotes played a shortened volleyball season in 2007 and will compete in their first full season beginning this fall.
