Santa Rosa's Downtown Market concludes its summer run today.

Fresh produce, food, flowers and entertainment stretch across Fourth Street and Mendocino Avenue in downtown Santa Rosa for this weekly event that begins at 5 p.m. and runs until 8:30 p.m.

Organizers of the market said they were expecting a good turnout for this evening's event, the last of the season for the street fair and farmers' market held every Wednesday from mid-May through the end of August.

"When it's this hot, people don't want to stay home and cook," said Tracey Pugh, market director.

Typically, she said, on a hot day people will wait until the temperature cools a bit before venturing to the market, which is held over four-block central downtown area with streets closed to motor vehicles.

At 4 p.m., the temperature in downtown Santa Rosa was 97 degrees, according to Weather.com, but it was expected to dip by the hour.

The forecast called for slight cooling by the hour: 93 degrees at 5 p.m;, 88 degrees by 6 p.m.; 82 degrees by 7 p.m. and 77 degrees by 8 p.m.
