ThermaSource, a fast-growing geothermal drilling company in Santa Rosa, announced a deal Tuesday to acquire Windsor-based Tecton Geologic.

Tecton Geologic employs 17 people and specializes in geothermal drilling services such as on-site rig monitoring and mud logging. The 17-year-old company will keep its headquarters in Windsor and add support staff and geologists, spokesman Ted Grafe said.

The acquisition price was not disclosed.

ThermaSource has raised $93 million from equity firms over the past two years as interest grows in alternative energies.

Founded in 1980, ThermaSource operated leased rigs for most of its history. It had just four employees less than three years ago. Today, the 242-employee company specializes in finding seams of steam deep underground.
