Crashes slow 101 through Petaluma
Last Modified: Thursday, October 9, 2008 at 4:11 p.m.
Two vehicle crashes in quick succession slowed traffic on southbound Highway 101 through Petaluma early Thursday morning.
A big rig hauling gravel and a pickup truck that collided north of East Washington Street just after 6 a.m. partially blocked the fast lane in the minutes following the crash, the CHP said.
Then at 6:20, a motorcycle and sedan struck each other just south of the Petaluma River Bridge, scattering wreckage across the highway and contributing to traffic delays, the CHP said.
Authorities said there was heavy traffic throughout the area as motorists slowed and waited for the accident scenes to be cleared.
At least one patient from the second crash was transported to a local hospital, though initial reports suggested neither accident resulted in significant injuries.
