Mother's Cookies shuts after 92 years
Last Modified: Friday, October 10, 2008 at 7:31 a.m.
An Oakland cookie company has closed its doors for good.
After operating in Oakland for 92 years, Mother's Cookies shut when its parent company filed for bankruptcy protection Monday.
Plant officials told workers Friday that operations would cease and cookies would no longer be made at the plant.
In filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware, company officials cited rising prices for raw materials and fuel.
The closure comes after Mother's had shifted its baking and distribution operations to plants in Ohio and Canada in 2006.

RE: Link
DAMN YOU BUSH!!! does this mean we'll never enjoy circus cookie deliciousness again?

That's it, blame Bush for everything.
He inherited Clinton's mess of 8 years or no foreign policy, no energy policy and high taxes!
We'll be going without a lot more than little pink and white cookies with sprinkles on them if we elect Obama.
How about if we put the blame where it belongs. The LIBERAL/SOCIALISTS who keep gaining ground every year!Yeah, that was a real good idea to organize the community and register voters ILLEGALLY!And that was a real good idea to let Fannie and Freddie take on loans for people that couldn't qualify or pay them!
And it doesn't look like the bail out bill did much to stem the bleeding on Wall St.Socialism is a failed model. Why in the hell are you LIBS so in favor of government control of EVERYTHING!? You'll never prosper under socialism. No one will!
But I guess misery loves company, huh, you libs!

Yes, California run entirely by liberals, raising expenses on business every year. They already ran Buc Knives out of the State of California, the home it started in. Now we are losing another business of old.
Keep voting liberal California. We can buy milk and cookies from China now.

all I can say is "get used to it"...

Also, I will revolt before I become a socialist. Socialism sucks the souls from people.

I'm with you on that one capttan, what a mess this is going to be if he gets voted in-sadly its not looking good at this point.
lovesthelaw-I just have no response to your insanity, I get so tired of reading you on here all the time-I'm guessing you do nothing but argue on these boards all day...all I can really say to you is find a little humor in your days- its all we're really going to have left soon. I find humor in blaming bush for everything because thats what so many on here and out there in the world tend to do..but like I said I won't be so simple minded that I can't see the rest of the picture either--do you seriously believe Bush hasn't made a huge mess as well? because he really has whether or not we conservatives(aka republicans) want to see it or not. The guy is a joke, he's a terrible president and its ok for us to admit it-you'll find that people give you a bit more respect when discussing politics if you can admit that your own party has made some terrible mistakes too. Open minded discussions tend to follow-otherwise you'll see that you're spinning your wheels and no one is listening when you completely shut off all reasonable thought and resort to chanting about how you're so right and they're so wrong.

Comes now the late Gov. George Wallace of Alabama, who sez:
"There ain't a dimes worth of difference between the Republicans and Democrats".Children, when will you stop arguing which socialist is worst? They are all worst.Voting against the incumbent is the best strategy we have at this time.

I'm in the middle of reading "who killed the constitution?" but I'll look for that one next..I'm always willing to listen and try to understand more of whats really going on with all of this.
And yes-I'll agree wholeheartedly with your opinion on clinton and that wife of his...it makes me sick to think so many people out there think they're the best this country has ever had.
