Batteries may have sparked Santa Rosa vehicle fire
Last Modified: Monday, October 13, 2008 at 2:12 p.m.
In the first minutes of Monday, Santa Rosa firefighters rushed to a business fire on Sebastopol Road.
They found two vehicles burning in a carport of Performance Glass, Battalion Chief Andy Pforsich said.
The fire burned a Chevrolet pickup with a camper and a Camaro parked next to it. The metal carport also burned.
The loss was estimated at about $50,000.
The owner, Tim Gonsalves, last week had installed some batteries into a camper in preparation of an upcoming fishing trip.
The fire started in the camper and officials are looking at whether something in the electrical system with the batteries sparked the fire, Pforsich said.
The fire was reported at 12:17 a.m. and was called in by people at a nearby taco stand restaurant, he said.
