A misdemeanor charge of violating a court order was dismissed Monday against Windsor Town Council candidate Julie Adamson.

The case stemmed from a lengthy child custody dispute Adamson has been involved in with Joseph Pheffer, the father of her 9-year-son.

Contact between the parents is supposed to be limited to e-mail for visitation issues. There were allegedly two instances in which Adamson went beyond that, but a judge last month found Pheffer had violated the order and, therefore, it was unenforceable, according to Martin Woods, Adamson's attorney.

The Sonoma County District Attorney's Office agreed to dismiss the case against Adamson, said Chief Deputy William Brockley.

Adamson, a former town councilwoman, is seeking re-election today. Her personal life became campaign fodder after a letter was sent to her fellow Rotary Club members mentioning the pending court case.
