If you’ve already voted, then you’re probably the proud owner of a free “I Voted” sticker.
In Sonoma County, there are other rewards for the voting public who want to save a buck or two on election day. After all, in this tough economy, every penny counts.
For that mid-day break, there’s a cup of free java at your favorite Starbucks. It’s just a regular cuppa Joe — no liberal lattes for free - but that’s still a chunk of change.
At Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream in Sonoma, owner Troy Marmaduke is serving free scoops of ice cream to voters between 5 and 8 p.m. Tuesday night. Pick your favorite flavor - from Chunky Monkey to Imagine Whirled Peace — at the shop at 408 First Street East, on the northeast side of the square.
Meanwhile, The Last Record Store in Santa Rosa is handing out a free, “Election Day 2008” mix CD to all their loyal, voting customers.
“Everybody’s been real excited,” said store employee Gerry Stumbaugh, who stayed up late last night to burn the CDs. “I only made 100, so I might run out. My hope is that I will, because that means everybody voted.”
The CD includes political and protest songs from Bob Dylan to the Dead Kennedys. The Last Record Store is located at 1899a Mendocino Avenue, behind the Santa Rosa Community Market.
