Numerous Veterans Day events planned

Several events are planned Tuesday to mark Veterans Day in the area. They include:
Santa Rosa: Flag raising ceremony, Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Santa Rosa City Hall to honor our fellow veterans. There will be a microphone for veterans to offer comments of support.
Cloverdale: Ceremony with speeches and singers, 11 a.m. Tuesday. Cloverdale City Plaza, Broad Street. For information, call 696-2964.
Petaluma: The area's largest Veterans Day parade north of the Golden Gate features marching bands, color guards, decorated vehicles, floats and more. Grand Marshall and keynote speaker will be Maj. Gen “Mike” Myatt, USMC (Ret). 1 p.m. Tuesday, starting at Walnut Park at "D" Street to Petaluma Boulevard and back. Call 769-0429 for information.
Rohnert Park: Presentation of colors by Boy Scouts; flag display by American Legion Post 338; Rohnert Park Community Band; flag retirement ceremony for display and attendees’ flags by Girl Scouts. Rohnert Park Mayor Jake Mackenzie will be a guest speaker. 11 a.m. today. Free. Community Center, 5401 Snyder Lane, Rohnert Park. 588-3456.
Tuesday is Veterans Day, which means some government agencies, schools, services and businesses will be closed or have modified hours.
