Man's hand injured by illegal firework

<p>A Laytonville man injured his hand late Monday night with an illegal firework, Mendocino County sheriff's officials said Tuesday.</p><p>Emergency crews were called at about midnight Monday to a Laytonville address and found the injured man.</p><p>"He blew up his hand with some type of firework mortar," sheriff's Lt. Rusty Noe said. The man was reportedly treated for the injury and released.</p><p>Fire officials are investigating what happened. Deputies will cite the man on suspicion of possessing an explosive device, Noe said.</p><p>The man's name wasn't available Tuesday.</p><p>-- Randi Rossmann</p>
