Boonlack Chanpheng, a 27-year-old Santa Rosa resident, was arrested after leaving his house at about 9:30 Tuesday morning, Sonoma County Sheriff’s officials said.
Chanpheng is a member of the “Asian Boyz,” a criminal street gang, said Sgt. Dave Thompson.
Other members of that group have been charged with murder after allegedly kidnapping Vutha Au, 24, on March 2 and driving him to a secluded beach near Jenner where he was then shot nine times and left for dead.
Authorities believe he was killed so that he couldn’t testify on behalf of his brother, 22-year-old Terry Au, who has alleged he also was kidnapped and tortured by the same gang when he decided to stop running drugs for them.
Quentin Russell, 25; Preston Khaoone, 22; Tyrone Tay, 26; and brothers David, 19, and Sarith Prak, 22, remain held without bail at Sonoma County Jail on those charges.
Chanpheng faces charges of kidnapping, murder and participating in a criminal street gang.
