Petaluma's Turin merging with San Jose firm

<p>Petaluma’s Turin Networks, which makes telecommunications access gear, said Monday it will merge with San Jose’s Force10 Networks in March. </p><p>Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed, but the new company will be headquartered in San Jose and be called Force10 Networks. </p><p>Turin CEO Henry Wasik will be president of the new business. </p><p>The combined companies will offer a more complete solution for service providers and data centers, Wasik said. “Strategically, the merged company will be the only private networking company that is a leading player in three of the fastest growing segments of the networking market," he said. </p><p>The merged companies will have about 1,300 customers. </p><p>Privately-held Turin has about 400 employees, including 150 at its Petaluma headquarters. Turin also has research and development facilities in Boulder, Dallas, Boston and Shanghai.</p>
