The state of California filed a lawsuit to recover the cost of cleaning up the oil spill that resulted from the collision of a ship with the Bay Bridge in November 2007.
The pilot of the ship, Petaluman John Cota, was named as one of the defendants in the multi-million-dollar suit, filed Tuesday.
The owners and operator of the ship, the Cosco Busan, were also named as defendants.
The container ship collided with the Bay Bridge in heavy fog on Nov. 7, 2007, spilling 58,000 gallons of oil.
