Pineda, 15, was released from Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital on Tuesday afternoon, a hospital spokesman said Wednesday. She'd been at the hospital since Saturday morning's crash.

Cruz Pineda, 13, remained at Children's Hospital in Oakland with more serious injuries.

Family members said they hope her condition will improve with each day she remains in the hospital.

"She's now in the hands of the doctors," said her father, Asefredo Pineda. "If it's not your turn to die, you must live."

A trust account now is open for the two Santa Rosa sisters. Donations may be made at any Exchange Bank branch to the Deysi and Cruz Pineda trust account, school officials said.

The girls were hit by a pickup as they waited with their father on an east Santa Rosa corner. The driver has been charged with drunken driving and hit-and-run.
