HGTV's 2009 Dream Home puts out the welcome mat

Consider it the ultimate real estate open house — without the “For Sale” sign.
People who hope to land their piece of the Wine Country life — complete with outdoor kitchen, miniature vineyard and matching doghouse — can now tour the HGTV Dream House in Sonoma.
The bit of aspirational real estate on Sonoma’s prestigious east side will be given away in a nationwide drawing March 15. In the meantime, if you’re one of the estimated 40 million people who hope to win the property, you can check it out in person.
Developer Steve Ledson is opening the house up for daily tours. Tickets cost $20, with proceeds benefitting the Ledson family’s Harmony Foundation for Children. The Foundaton provides direct financial support to at-risk or needy children and youth in the community.
Tours will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, with the last tour beginning at 4:30 p.m. Reservations are required. Tours will be guided by shuttle from the Ledson Hotel, at 480 First St. E. on the Sonoma Plaza.
Be prepared to shed your shoes and don booties at the door.
To make reservations, call 537-3812. Or you can tour the house virtually online at www.HGTV.com.
