Petaluma biotech startup Oculus Innovative Sciences has received $3 million from a partner to help expand sales of its infection-fighting liquid, company officials said Tuesday.
Investor VetCure Inc. will get exclusive rights to distribute Oculus' Vetericyn Wound Care for animals in the United States.
VetCure will receive 3 million shares of Oculus common stock with warrants.
Oculus will use the funds to expand distribution in the U.S., China, India, Mexico, Europe and other countries. It hopes to reach profitability in 12 months, said Oculus CEO Hoji Alimi.
Oculus manufactures and markets a family of products based on Microcyn technology, which is intended to treat infections in chronic and acute wounds.
