Smell that? It must be skunk mating season

<p>Love is in the air, according to Sonoma County Wildlife Rescue founder, Doris Duncan. This is the time of year homeowners need to check their property for skunk activity.</p><p>“Skunks are mating and breeding all over the county right now. That’s why there is so much skunk scent in the air,” said Duncan.</p><p>Residents are advised to remove exterior sources of food, such as pet food stored or served outside. Pet owners are also advised to consider locking pet doors at night.</p><p>Not sure if skunks are to blame for critter noises or activity? “A scattering of flour on the ground near likely entry points can capture paw prints and help you see what animals are around your property.” Duncan said.</p><p>Sonoma County Wildlife Rescue is a non-profit that rescues and rehabilitates injured and orphaned wildlife. The organization provides non-lethal services that can assist during skunk mating and breeding season.</p><p>“We can install humane one-way doors under decks and in crawl spaces. These doors let the animal exit, but not re-enter. We evict them,” she said.</p>
