The man killed in a Saturday crash near Cotati has been identified as Alexander P. Ruiz, 22, of Richmond, the CHP said Monday.
Ruiz was driving on Highway 116 near Stony Point Road when his car was hit by a car driven by a suspected drunken driver at 2:20 a.m.
The CHP said they believe Ruiz is a Sonoma State University student.
Dylan Morse of Merced, 18, who was not injured, was arrested after the crash on suspicion of felony drunken driving and manslaughter.
The CHP said that Morse drove through a red light at the intersection at about 70 mph and hit Ruiz’s car broadside.
A passenger in Morse’s car, Ryan Spitzer of Merced, was in serious condition Monday at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.
