Bands march in New Orleans. It’s just what they do, pounding the pavement for funerals, jubilees and parades. And, of course, Mardi Gras. It’s why the sousaphone comes in handy down in the French Quarter.

Bringing a bit of that NOLA flavor to Sonoma County, the 18th annual Mambofest throws a Fat Tuesday Party, starting with a New Orleans Marching Band around Railroad Square at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, followed by Rhythmtown-Jive onstage at the Last Day Saloon at 6:30 p.m. KRSH DJ Bill Bowker plays MC. 120 Fifth St., Santa Rosa. $7. 21+. 545-2343.
