Petaluma Police say a self-employed music teacher has been arrested for the alleged molestation of a child, though whether his alleged victim was one of his students was not immediately clear early Friday morning.

Dominick Godino, 68, was arrested at his home Thursday evening for the alleged commission of lewd acts on a child under 14 and penetration with a foreign object - both felonies, authorities said.

Police said the alleged assault was reported to them on Saturday, Feb. 28, though it was not immediately clear when it is alleged to have occurred.

They launched an investigation, resulting in Godino's arrest Thursday.

He was booked into the Sonoma County Jail but was released around 3:30 a.m. Friday after posting bond for $200,000 bail, jail personnel said.

The victim's gender was not disclosed in a press release police sent out shortly after midnight Thursday.

Additional details were not immediately available Friday morning.

Authorities ask that anyone who may have information about the case contact police Detective Aaron Garihan at 707-778-4456.
