A Lake County man, suspected of drunken bicycle riding after crashing into a car, was released from a Santa Rosa hospital and faces prosecution, the CHP reported.

Robert Sherman, 55, of Nice was flown to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital by REACH helicopter Sunday. He suffered head injuries after riding into a truck.

At about 10:10 a.m., Sherman was riding down a hill toward Sayre Street in the Nice community. He failed to yield to through traffic and hit the front passenger-side corner of Jason Horton's truck, the CHP said.

Horton, 29, of Nice was driving a 1976 Chevy Silverado on Sayre Street at about 20 mph when the collision occurred.

Horton and passengers weren't injured.

Officers determined Sherman was intoxicated, and he was arrested while at the hospital.

Sherman was treated for his injuries and released.

CHP investigators will file charges involving drunken riding with the Lake County District Attorney's Office, the CHP said.
