A Windsor man who drove his motorcycle into the rear of a FedEx tractor trailer rig survived the Thursday night crash but suffered severe injuries, Windsor Police said Friday.
Manuel Aguilar, 26, suffered possible spinal damage as well as facial injuries in the 8:50 p.m. collision on Shiloh Road, police Sgt. Rob Gordon said.
Aguilar was rushed with critical injuries to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition Friday, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Gordon said he was expected to live.
Authorities said Aguilar had a blood alcohol level of 0.21 percent, nearly three times the 0.08 percent level at which one is presumed unfit to drive in California.
He was traveling east on Shiloh Road, west of Highway 101, as the westbound big rig turned south into a Caletti Road industrial park, Gordon said.
Aguilar came upon the truck and crashed into the rear of the trailer, police said.
The incident closed Shiloh Road between Conde Lane and the freeway for about 90 minutes, authorities said.
It remains under investigation, Gordon said.
