78-year-old Novato doctor accused of molesting patient

<p>NOVATO — A 78-year-old Novato doctor has been ordered to stand trial on allegations that he sexually abused a patient during a gynecological exam.</p><p>Dr. Horace Newhard, a family doctor who's been licensed since 1973, faces one charge of sexual penetration.</p><p>The alleged victim, a 60-year-old woman, says she complained of genital itching during a visit in 2007, but during Newhard's exam, she felt him thrusting into her. She claims he also touched her breasts inappropriately and kissed her.</p><p>Newhard maintains that his actions served a genuine medical purpose.
