NAPA, June 11, 2009 -- Direct-to-consumer wine fulfillment provider New Vine has started shipping again after having suspended that activity at the beginning of this month.

New Vine started sending out shipments last night from its American Canyon fulfillment center as part of a deal June 5 between Napa-based wine-order conduit Intertia Beverage Group and New Vine's senior creditor, Silicon Valley Bank, according to Josh Langford, vice president of sales and marketing.

"We're excited to be working with IBG and shipping again," he said today.

New Vine suspended operations at the beginning of this month when its financial backers declined to provide more money. The company had been working with a 40-person staff to get wine to customers for auctions and arrange other forms of shipping.

Now the company is starting with the most "critical needs" of its customers, including shipments to customer accounts on allocation.
