William Rawn Associates, Architects Inc. of Boston, the firm that designed the Green Music Center in Sonoma County, has been ranked as the No. 1 architectural firm in the nation by ARCHITECT, one of the country’s two leading national architectural magazines.

In the May 2009 issue, the magazine ranked the top 50 architectural firms in the country “according to their profitability, commitment to sustainability and caliber of design.”

William Rawn Associates’ high ranking was due to its many design awards and percentage of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) projects in 2008. The firm is well known for its work with major universities as well as for its music, theater and dance projects.

The $110-million Green Music Center on the Sonoma State Campus is about 80 percent complete and has been opening in phases over the past year. It includes a world-class concert hall based on the Seiji Ozawa Hall at Tanglewood, which was also designed by William Rawn Associates.

There is still $17 million left to raise for the completion of the performing arts complex, which will serve as the home of the Santa Rosa Symphony as well as SSU’s music education programs.
