Alaska Airlines tops J.D. Power rankings

Customer satisfaction with airlines has reached a four-year low, according to a J.D. Power and Associates study released Tuesday.
Alaska Airlines ranked No. 1, followed by Continental and Delta in the J.D. Power North American airline satisfaction study. Those rankings mirror the results last year. The survey ranks low-cost carriers separately, and AirTran Airways again came in at the bottom of that group. AirTran, which has its largest hub in Atlanta, was fifth behind top-ranked JetBlue, followed by Southwest, Canadian carrier WestJet and Frontier.
However, all five of the low-cost carriers scored better than any of the traditional network carriers.
Even though on-time arrival rates have improved and wait times at check-in have decreased, overall customer satisfaction fell for the third straight year.
