Posted health warnings for high bacteria counts at Veterans Memorial Beach in Healdsburg were taken down Saturday, according to county recreation and parks staff.

Bacteria levels no longer exceeded recommended state guidelines, said Bernadetta Torres, a county park aide working at Memorial Beach Saturday.

However, posted warnings remained in place at Sunset Beach at Hacienda Bridge, according to an e-mail sent Saturday evening by Walter Kruse, Sonoma County environmental health director.

Test results for Sunset Beach will be evaluated Sunday, and “if the sample for Sunset is still high, the sign will remain and re-sampling will occur on Monday.”

On Thursday, water samples taken June 30 indicated that bacterial levels at both Monte Rio Beach and Memorial Beach exceeded recommended State of California guidelines for freshwater bathing.

The posted warnings at Monte Rio Beach were removed Friday.
