A 15-year-old girl hit by a car while walking in a Sebastopol crosswalk underwent additional surgery on Saturday at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, where she remained in very critical condition.
Sebastopol police officer Greg Devore said the department has not decided whether criminal charges will be filed against the driver of the car, a 70-year-old woman whom police have declined to identify because she has been charged.
The girl, who also was not identified by police, was walking in a Highway 116 crosswalk from the north side of Healdsburg Avenue to the south side when she was hit by a car heading westbound. Police said the vehicle swerved into the eastbound lane, collided with an eastbound vehicle and then drove into a building occupied by the Thai Issan restaurant in the 7500 block of Healdsburg Avenue.
Devore said police are still looking for witnesses to the accident, which occurred as hundreds were headed to the annual fireworks display at Analy High School.
Devore asked that witnesses to the accident call him at the police department at 829-4400.
