Two earthquakes registering a magnitude of 3.0 and 3.1 shook The Geysers area early Sunday within minutes of each other, reported the U.S. Geological Survey.
The first, the 3.0 quake, struck at 4:31 a.m.
The second came 18 minutes later and was a 3.1-magnitude temblor, according to initial reports from the geological agency.
Both quakes were centered two miles north of The Geysers and four miles west of Cobb, in Lake County.
The Geysers steamfields are in hills separating Sonoma and Lake counties. Earthquakes there are a daily occurance, although most quakes are in the 1- to 2-magnitude range.
Many, however, register in the 3-magnitude range, and a few of late have registered a reading of magnitude 4 or more
