Doctors have determined a young man who fled police from San Francisco to Santa Rosa last month is mentally incompetent to stand trial.
A judge had earlier suspended criminal proceedings against Cody Mittleman, 19, to allow time for a mental health exam.
Mittleman was charged with felony evading police in connection with a July 9 chase from south of the Golden Gate Bridge to Santa Rosa.
His family has said Mittleman suffers from mental health issues and was in line to be taken to a facility in Los Angeles when he was mistakenly released from a Santa Barbara County jail mental health unit. As he drove north, law enforcement authorities were notified and they tried to stop Mittleman.
No one was hurt in to ensuing chase.
Mittleman refused to come to court Monday. After hearing from a psychiatrist during the hearing, a judge ruled him incompetent and ordered a hearing Wednesday to determine if medications are warranted and, if so, how they would be administered.
He remained in Sonoma County Jail pending the hearing.
