A representative for the Sonoma State faculty formally requested a town hall meeting with university administrators Thursday to discuss 23 private loans issued to local land owners, including a former board member.

Susan Moulton, who heads the Academic Senate, requested a public forum to discuss the loans Thursday at a meeting of the President's Budget Advisory Committee.

Larry Furukawa-Schlereth, the university's chief financial officer, responded to the request by saying that he wanted the operations of the SSU Academic Foundation, which made the loans, to be open and available for public review.

“There is a lot of interest in our foundation,” he said. “It would be my personal commitment to share information.”

Furukawa-Schlereth said he could not commit to a date for a forum to discuss the loans because he did not know the schedule for future town hall meetings.
