Medtronic Inc., which employs 840 workers at its cardiovascular business in Santa Rosa, will consolidate the unit with two of its other heart-related divisions, the company said Monday.

The consolidation won’t affect operations in Santa Rosa, spokesman Joe McGrath said.

Medtronic’s cardiovascular, cardiac rhythm disease management and physio-control businesses will become a single operating group under a yet-to-be-named group president.

Scott Ward remains president of the cardiovascular business.

“This new structure enables us to capitalize on existing synergies across our businesses and further advances our goal of operating as One Medtronic, an integrated company focused on chronic disease,” said company CEO Bill Hawkins.
