A slight, barely measurable amount of rain fell across the North Coast on Sunday afternoon, bringing precipitation to a region that normally receives none this early in September.

The area of low pressure that brought light rain to Sonoma County is expected to linger through this morning and to carry with it the possibility of showers until noon.

After that, weather forecasters say, clouds will give way to sunshine during the afternoon.

By 4 p.m. Sunday, most weather reporting stations across Sonoma County reported the first measurable rain of the season.

Santa Rosa reported .05 of an inch, Sebastopol had .12 inches, Healdsburg recorded .09 inches and Windsor had .06 inches.

At this time last year, none of the weather recording stations in Sonoma County had recorded any rain.

A high pressure system over the region is expected to bring more sunshine over the week with daytime high temperatures climbing into the 80s by Wednesday.
